The Catcher
Holden states at the end of the book that he wants to be the catcher in the rye. he says that he wants to save kids as if they where playing in rye next to a cliff and he had to catch them before they fall off. I think a lot of the reason he wants to be the Catcher is because of his brother Allie. he wants to save Allie is someway even though he is already dead. he also wants to make sure that his sister Phoebe is safe and not harmed by life. It shows that Holden cares a lot for all children because of the hard childhood he had.
