The Catcher
Holden states at the end of the book that he wants to be the catcher in the rye. he says that he wants to save kids as if they where playing in rye next to a cliff and he had to catch them before they fall off. I think a lot of the reason he wants to be the Catcher is because of his brother Allie. he wants to save Allie is someway even though he is already dead. he also wants to make sure that his sister Phoebe is safe and not harmed by life. It shows that Holden cares a lot for all children because of the hard childhood he had.
Dead poet's V. Holden
Neil-
Neil was similar to Holden because they both didn't want to do what there parents wanted them to do. Neil wanted to be a actor, and Holden wanted to not go to school.
Todd -
Todd is similar to Holden because they both aren't very friendly and out going, they both are very shy. eventually they start being more outgoing, Todd stands up on the desk at the end of the movie, and Holden becomes the catcher in the Rye.
Knox-
Knox is in love with this girl, whereas Holden doesn't like girls, he thinks he does when he's with them, but after that he doesn't anymore.
Charlie -
charlie is the rebel, he is constantly going against the rules. Holden is very much like that, only instead of fighting the rules like charlie, he just doesn't try anymore. he leaves.

Mr. Keating's teachings
Mr. Keating is teaching his students to look at life from a different view. he made all his student stand up on his desk to demonstrate this view. he also taught them to be there own person, to stand up for what they believe in. he made them all walk at different paces to demonstrate this. The biggest lesson he taught was to seize the day. this lesson was the major plot motivator of the show. in contrast, Holden was taught that he had to act like everyone else and follow all the rules. he cant do anything that was extraordinary, he had to be ordinary.

Is Life a Game?
For a high school student i believe life is a game, and you have to follow by the rules because rules are actually given to you. but i also believe that when you get older you start to be able to make up your own rules. when you get older people stop telling you what to do. but, there still are rules of society, called laws, but in general behavior you decide how you want to act. another game- life analogy i like is that life is a game, and if you mess up you can't start over, but you can still win.
